‘Tis the season to profess our love and give into all our romantic inclinations. In the spirit of Valentines Day, here are 14 times the Princess Bride was all about love.

It’s that time of year folks. Everywhere you look you see hearts and balloons, and restaurants are already packed with Valentiners trying to get a head start. But compared to the love we see in The Princess Bride, it all pales in comparison. Westley and Buttercup’s love had to survive distance, giant rodents, and the endless pursuit of a Prince with terrible hair and a six-fingered guard. Nonetheless, they pushed through and proved that a real, genuine, true love can withstand anything.

Anybody who’s seen this movie even once can immediately recognize it’s message about true love. Westley and Buttercup fight through all sorts of obstructions and interference to make their way back together, and through all of it, they were never deterred.

Because they never faltered through any of it, they are an example of what true love really is. This list has 14 times that The Princess Bride was all about love, but we all know there were far more many instances than that. The movie, although about the love between Westley and Buttercup, is overflowing with examples of selfless love and devotion. It’s not just about the love between the two, but how love can overcome anything.
