Best Alternative Music Album & Best Rap Album

Best Alternative Music Album

Another difficult category with several big names. Bon Iver has been an alternative music darling in the past be this album didn’t make as much noise as others. Radiohead, on the other hand, made a big splash with their album A Moon Shaped Pool. However, Bowie’s final album is also in the mix this year, and that throws all usual assumptions out the window.

The Nominees

22, A Million — Bon Iver
Blackstar — David Bowie
The Hope Six Demolition Project — PJ Harvey
Post Pop Depression — Iggy Pop
A Moon Shaped Pool — Radiohead

Who Will Win

David Bowie will posthumously win for Blackstar this year. And not just because people are sentimental after his death. Blackstar deserves the win anyway with it’s beautiful, haunting tracks.

Best Rap Album

Kanye vs. Drake vs. newcomer Chance The Rapper face off in this heated race for Best Rap Album. But who will win?

The Nominees
Coloring Book — Chance The Rapper
And the Anonymous Nobody — De La Soul
Major Key — DJ Khaled
Views — Drake
Blank Face LP — ScHoolboy Q
The Life of Pablo — Kanye West

Who Will Win

Drake’s Views is nominated for Album of the Year, so logic says he will win this category if the Academy sticks to logic. While Chance The Rapper probably did in actuality have the Best Rap Album, Drake will likely take this one home.

Best Urban Contemporary Album

Beyoncé and Rihanna are the queens of this category and since both are huge names and had fantastic albums, which one will come out on top?

The Nominees

Beyoncé, Lemonade
Gallant, Ology
King, We Are King
Anderson .Paak, Malibu
Rihanna, Anti

Who Will Win

Logic says that Lemonade will win here because it was also nominated for Album of the Year. Also, logic says that Beyoncé slays.
