Fans were floored when it was revealed that Bruce Springsteen had written a song for the Harry Potter series. And now, we can finally hear it!
When Harry Potter and the Sorcerer’s Stone came out, Bruce Springsteen wrote a song for the series. Having never read the books, he wasn’t very clear on the tone of the franchise. It wasn’t anything against Springsteen, it just didn’t work out.
The song, which they released news about earlier this year, was a huge topic for fans. An actual song written for the Harry Potter series by the Boss himself? Well fans were afraid that they’d never be able to hear it. And now, that fear is no more for the song was released by the powers that be! (We found it floating around the SnitchSeeker forums.)
Listening to it, it is very obvious why it was not used. It doesn’t fit the series and doesn’t fit the tone of the movies. In fact, it sounds a little bit like those covers of Disney songs that used to happen after the animated films back in the 90s.
But that’s not to say it’s bad. In fact, it is a great song. Just very much a Bruce Springsteen classic. (And if you didn’t grow up with his music like I did, that might not make sense to you. Basically, it just sounds like it belongs on any Springsteen album, just not in Harry Potter.)
What’s great about the song is that he somehow got the gist of the whole series back then in 2001. The trio stood by each other always and it really fits their relationship. Just not the tone of the movies.

So Bruce, while you seemed a little upset the song wasn’t used, breathe happy. The song is great and Potter fans are very happy to hear it.
