7. Taking the Long Way by the Dixie Chicks in 2007

You probably think that Stadium Arcadium, FutureSex/LoveSounds, and Continuum all have Grammy awards right? Well unfortunately no, because they were all in the same year. So you probably are thinking to yourself “Well, one of those great albums had to have one Best Album, right?” Wrong. They were all beaten by The Dixie Chicks.

To be fair to the Dixie Chicks, there is one incredible song on this album. That happened because people were rude to them and sent them death threats. “Not Ready to Make Nice” is on The Long Way Round and it almost justifies the win.

But then you think about “Dani California” or “SexyBack” or even “Gravity” and realize that no, the one song that could have saved the win doesn’t make it okay. Just look at the track listings for Stadium Arcadium, Future Sex/Love Sounds, and Continuum. Think of all those songs you still know and then compare that to the Dixie Chicks album. You know probably one song. It just doesn’t hold up like the other three have.

And that’s not to say it wasn’t deserved at the time but just now, it seems like a crazy win that isn’t necessarily deserved to the modern audience.
