6. Can’t Slow Down by Lionel Richie in 1985

Purple Rain did not win the Grammy for Best Album. That should be enough of an explanation as to why this is crazy. But let me go into a bit more. Lionel Richie won for Best Album in 1985. Fine, Lionel is great. But beating Prince for probably his best album ever? No.

I couldn’t tell you a single song that was on that Lionel Richie album (I could now after looking it up but you get the point). But Purple Rain? Everyone knows at least three songs on the album! Because it is just that good! We love Prince (and even before he died we honored this album).

If you think that you don’t know any song off of Purple Rain, trust me, you do. “I never meant to cause you any sorrow, I never meant to cause you any pain.” Ever hear that? Oh well then you’ve heard “Purple Rain” from Purple Rain.

And honestly, that isn’t even the most popular off the album! “Let’s Go Crazy”, “Darling Nikki”, “When Doves Cry”, and “I Would Die 4 U” are all on this album. Because, again, it was one of the greatest to ever exist and it was beat out by Lionel Richie.
