10. Nick of Time by Bonnie Raitt in 1990

While I think that Bonnie Raitt is an amazing performer, this album beat out Tom Petty and the Travelling Wilburys. I just can’t let that slide. Nick of Time is great and so is the song but both Tom Petty and the Travelling Wilburys? There is no way!

While this isn’t the biggest upset in Grammys history, it is still pretty weird that Bonnie beat these two amazing albums. Especially since there are only a handful of Bonnie Raitt songs that people even know. But again, maybe at the time it was an incredible album and everyone loved it. It just didn’t hold the test of time.

Through all these albums, there is a common theme. They were probably great in that moment and they have incredible songs on them, they’re just not ones that we still think of today. Like with Abbey Road, who would think that it wouldn’t have won Best Album? It is one of the greatest albums of all time! But award shows are weird and we discover what remains years later.
