Lady Gaga will Finally Appear on RuPaul’s Drag Race in Season 9
By Dan Selcke
Fresh from her Super Bowl appearance, Lady Gaga announces that she’ll appear on RuPaul’s Drag Race season 9, complete with a video!
RuPaul’s Drag Race has been on Logo for eight seasons. That’s eight seasons of men dressed as women giving face, getting their life and reading the house down. Guest judges have included gay idols like Kathy Griffin, Bob Mackie, John Waters, Ariana Grande and many more. It’s the gayest show on the gayest network on television, but somehow the biggest name in gay pop culture of the past decade—Lady Gaga—has yet to show up.
That’ll end this year, when the pop star will guest star in an episode of the show’s ninth season, as noted by Entertainment Weekly. She made the announcement on Twitter.
You’ll notice that the queens lose their collective minds after Gaga says RuPaul’s usual line. That is because they’re drag queens in full drag and Lady Gaga is talking to them.
This season is going to be amazing.
Twitter, ever reliable, was on hand to take the temperature of the nation after the announcement.
The announcement doesn’t mention in what capacity Gaga will be on the show. Is she a guest judge? A mentor? I dunno, a contestant? Who cares? Lady Gaga is finally on RuPaul’s Drag Race.
My question is: how in the hell did this take so long? We know RuPaul and Gaga know each other. He joined her onstage for the Lady Gaga & the Muppets’ Holiday Spectacular for a performance of “Fashion” back in 2013.
Was it RuPaul’s Emmy win after season 8 that did it? Or did Gaga just decide she couldn’t resist the show’s gravitational pull on her any longer without throwing the Earth out of orbit?
Now if the show can just get Cher, Madonna and Britney Spears to come on it can go off the air happy.

Oh, and Logo revealed the new queens and dropped a trailer for season 9 last week.
I don’t think they involve Gaga, though.
