2016 was a hard one for fans of musicians and the Grammys already honored David Bowie last year. This year, we’ll get tributes to Prince and George Michael.
Last year, we lost a lot of great artists but at the Grammys, we had only lost David Bowie. It’s weird to think about how Bowie was just the start of it all. So Lady Gaga had given a breathtaking tribute to the Starman but after the Grammys, we had lost both Prince and George Michael as well.
According to Entertainment Weekly, the executive producer Ken Ehrlich said this about the tributes of those great artists lost.
"“While the primary focus of the Grammy Awards is to celebrate and honor the year’s best in music, we consider it our responsibility to tell music’s broader story by honoring its legends lost—that’s what we strive to achieve with our annual tributes.”"
Ken also went on to talk about the significance of these performers to the Grammys themselves apart from their influence in the music community. “While it’s nearly impossible to convey the full depth of an artist’s cultural impact in a single performance, it’s that very challenge that has led us to some of our most memorable Grammy moments.”
Which artists will be performing these tributes has yet to be announced. Katy Perry is slotted to perform but rumors are that she will be debuting a new song. So unless we get a announcement sometime this week before we get to the actual show, we might just have to wait until Sunday to find out!

The Grammys air this Sunday with host James Corden. And if the tributes aren’t your style, still tune in for the amazingness that is James Corden.
