Supergirl Season 2 Episode 11 “The Martian Chronicles” Recap
This weeks Supergirl “The Martian Chronicles” lived up to the standards of the previous episodes of this season. Allow me to recap.
The first part of this episode sets us up for an exploratory episode between multiple relationships. First and foremost, we have Kara and Alex’s sister dynamic. Then, we have something going on between Kara and Mon-El, and finally, there’s the Alex and Maggie relationship we all know and love.
The scene kicks off by Kara rejecting Mon-El once again. Then Alex pops over to tell Kara that she’s going to a Barenaked Ladies concert with Maggie (there’s definitely a joke here) instead of celebrating Kara’s Earth birthday. Kara is clearly upset but doesn’t tell Alex.

Then we have the relationship between J’onn and M’gann, which is turning into a little alien love story. M’gann has warned him that White Martians are coming for her so J’onn has been following her around, shapeshifting into multiple different people. However, the White Martian finds them in an alley and begins attacking before Supergirl can fend him off.
M’gann hurries back in the bar, refusing help from the DEO where she runs into the White Martian again, but in human form. Turns out that this White Martian was her mate back on Mars before she went rogue. He gives her two options: either go with him or he kills all of her friends. So M’gann decides she definitely wants J’onn’s help now. They head back to the DEO but as they do, another M’gann shows up. The real M’gann. So the one who went back with J’onn is the White Martian. The power goes out for enough time for the White Martian to escape.
While this is all happening, Alex makes her way to there DEO to check in with Kara. She gets there just in time to deal with this White Martian. J’onn realizes the White Martian can be anyone so he locks down the DEO. Nobody in. Nobody out. Guess that Barenaked Ladies concert will have to wait, Alex.

J’onn rigs up a test to show if you’re a martian or not- putting your hand against a flame. J’onn, Kara, and two DEO agents pass the test. Once it gets to Winn, he reveals he is the White Martian and begins attacking everyone, but then manages to get away. The Winn-lookalike uses the real Winn’s brain to sabotage the nuclear reactor of the building, which will make the DEO explode if they don’t fix it.
They all go off searching for the real Winn. Alex and Kara go off together and it’s revealed that Kara thinks Alex is choosing Maggie over her. M’gann andJ’onn have an emotional moment together as well, as he confesses that he’s becoming rather fond of her. But before the love connection can continue, they find Winn and Alex cocooned up by a web. That’s right- Alex. So the Alex with Kara is a White Martian too.
Kara starts fighting her, while J’onn and M’gann are taking on the other White Martian. Winn is off shutting down the reactor. The White Martians die and Winn becomes a hero.
Alex rushes off to be with Maggie. Winn peaces out to go be with James. M’gann tells J’onn that she needs to go back to Mars to see if any other of her kind feel the same way she does.

This leaves Kara all alone in the DEO.
Later that night, Alex shows up at Kara’s apartment with a cupcake to celebrate her Earth birthday. They talk about Alex and Maggie’s relationships and then they talk about Alex and Kara’s relationship and then they talk about Kara and Mon-El’s relationship. Alex thinks Kara should give him a chance.
But the next morning at work, Mon-El seems as though he’s moved on. To which I say, “That’s okay, Kara! Lena will be back next week!!! ”
Another excellent episode of Supergirl, if I do say so myself.
