In celebration of LEGO Batman’s release this weekend, Warner Bros. gave the LEGO treatment to all its hit shows and DC properties.
As The LEGO Batman Movie prepares to hit theaters this weekend and go up against the likes of Fifty Shades Darker, John Wick 2, and of course, all the DC villains, LEGO’s pulling out all the stops.
In addition to creating entire worlds out of little plastic bricks and entire Wayne Manor filled with dolphins, they digitally re-created a number of hit shows from Warner Bros. Television. And not just the comics. Comedies like Mom and The Big Bang Theory received plastic makeovers, as well as daytime talk shows like The Ellen DeGeneres Show.
CBR, which attended the unveiling in Burbank, discovered that “More than 10,000 LEGO bricks were used to create the image for each billboard, and it took around 300 hours to complete the builds and 70 hours to install the billboards themselves.”
While LEGO Batman debuted in The LEGO Movie, he wasn’t the only superhero featured. We also saw Green Lantern, Wonder Woman and Superman. So, it makes sense that The CW’s superheroes would get their chance in the spotlight too. Additionally, last night’s new episode of Supergirl featured LEGO credits at the end.
And it doesn’t end there. Warner Bros. and DC unveiled a new TV spot that collected all the DC superheroes in one spot. Isn’t it fascinating how easily LEGO can assemble their own version of the Justice League better and more efficiently than the DC Extended Universe?

Of course, this just demonstrates another facet of the Batman and the DC Universe. But I still wish they could find a seamless way to incorporate this sort of cohesion into the DC Extended Universe. Why do the other divisions, like games and the LEGO properties / animated works, do it so much better?
The LEGO Batman Movies opens in theaters this Friday.
