Dance, yell, get it all out
Alone in your room or apartment for a few minutes? Crank up your favorite playlist and just let loose. Get down with your bad self – shake it out, pull out every stop and have no shame. Want to dance in your underwear? Go for it. Need to scream at the top of your lungs? Feel free, warrior. Whether it’s for one song or whole playlist of fired up tunes, let yourself free. Our personal favorites are Beyonce, Prince and Rage Against the Machine. Get that blood pumping and dance like no one can see you (even if they can) – you’ll feel a little lighter, we promise.
Besides, dancing and joy sometimes are the best way to protest (fight evil with light, come on) – so if you’re not keen on taking time for yourself, just consider it practice for the next LGBT dance party outside of Vice President Pence’s home, like this one last month.
So cue up that Spotify playlist. Not sure where to start? Try Spotify’s specifically curated “Discover Weekly” playlist, or browse under their own genre specific playlists – this month, especially, they feature a Black History Month section to keep you woke, motivated and moving, with everything from songs to videos and related podcasts.
