Find an online community

Sometimes, the best support system you can find is behind the screen. Whether it be Twitter, Tumblr, Reddit – find a community without trolls who are looking to learn from each other. You may find some of your best friends (speaking from personal experience on this one).

For example, during the campaign season and staying active through this day, a woman named Libby Chamberlain created a secret, pro-Clinton Facebook group called Pantsuit Nation where members could post selfies of themselves in pantsuits, much like the famous Democratic candidate and former First Lady, senator and Secretary of State.

From there, it boomed into much more. The group today boasts nearly 4 million members, and has evolved into much more than selfies – discussions of all kinds have taken place, almost as a multi-million member support group now.

Whether it’s a group that large, or something much smaller – a Twitter group of friends, 100 mutual followers on Tumblr, what have you – sometimes, the internet can bring you together and find you a new sort of home.
