Sean Spicer Says Melissa McCarthy Could Dial it Back on His Impersonation

Melissa McCarthy’s impersonation of Sean Spicer is the talk of the town after Saturday night but he says she could “dial it back”.

For those of us who watched Melissa McCarthy’s impersonation of Sean Spicer this past weekend, it was quite a wild ride. But many of us recognized that the impersonation was over the top. That’s the point of impersonations.

But Spicer himself told Extra she needs to dial it back “just a little bit”. If you didn’t watch the sketch, there is literally a moment when Melissa as Spicer takes the podium and runs it into people. And he says she needs to dial it back “a bit”.

Also, seriously, if you didn’t watch the sketch, you must drop everything and watch it right this second. We’ll wait.

Spicer seemed to like the impersonation and thought it was funny to watch. That’s a great contrast to his feelings on Alec Baldwin’s Trump impersonation though. Many in the White House hate it. (I wonder why. Maybe because the president hates it? Because it’s true?)

“Alec has gone from funny to mean, and that’s unfortunate. SNL used to be really funny. There’s a streak of meanness now that they’ve crossed over to mean,” Spicer told Extra. So Saturday Night Live has a streak of meanness that has crossed over to mean? And this guy is the press secretary for our President?

Basically the fact that Spicer like this is completely bonkers. The impression is making fun of him and showing how insane everything actually is. The whole Glen part in the sketch? An actual thing that happened with Spicer. But whatever, at least someone in the White House is liking what Saturday Night Live is doing. Even if he misses the entire point.
