Kitten Bowl IV: Check out the Blooper Reel
By Ani Bundel
Kitten Bowl IV has finished for the year, but the highlights of the show were definitely when things didn’t go as the furry players planned.
A very wise friend once said to me, while watching a live performance of the Acro Cats “This show works because when the cats do the tricks, it’s amazing, and when they don’t…it’s adorable because they’re cats.” One could say very much the same about Kitten Bowl.
Kitten Bowl is treated much of the time like an afterthought to Puppy Bowl. after all, puppy are far easier to get to do things that vaguely resemble a football game. Cat can also be convinced to do so…sometimes. And because they’re smaller and clumsier than their canine counterparts, their struggle to manage to perform some of these tricks are often cuter than them actually managing it.
And when they don’t it’s ok. Because it’s adorable. Because they’re cats. Perhaps that’s why, in lieu of a halftime show highlight reel, Hallmark Channel has instead given us Kitten Bowl IV: The Blooper Reel. (The halftime show, for the record, is just like the game, but with different lighting.)
What’s funnier than kittens playing football? Kittens attempting to man the bizarre obstacle course that vaguely resembles a football field, and failing to manage. As for those who wonder hat the point of all this fluffy furry action is, Hallmark reminds us that the object of Kitten Bowl is to do good in this world towards our anipal friends.
"The annual programming event has resulted in the adoption of thousands of cats and kittens (and even some puppies and rabbits) and helps showcase the plight of homeless animals and the beautiful pets available for adoption through local shelters. These kittens are ferocious, sweet, and ready to compete!"
