Yes, Ariana Grande and John Legend Really Did Duet on “Beauty and the Beast”

The new duet version of “Beauty and the Beast” has arrived ahead of the movie coming out next month, and it certainly is a version of the song.

Since Beauty and the Beast stands as a classic of animation, and since Disney has had great success with remaking its animated movies (to the tune of nearly a billion dollars for The Jungle Book last year alone), it only made sense that Beauty and the Beast would have its day in the live-action sun. It even stars Emma Watson as Belle!

Of course, since the original had a special duet version of the titular song with Céline Dion, the live-action version has a special duet of its own. As previously announced, John Legend and Ariana Grande took on this duty for 2017.

Take it away, DisneyMusicVEVO on YouTube!

Since the video points out that we only have the audio here, we fully expect a music video at some point or another. The question is whether or not an actual music video would feature scenes from the film or the actual singers.

As for the song itself, comments on the video point out that it isn’t quite the same as the version heard in the final trailer for the movie, particularly in the use of backing instruments. Honestly, it’s perfectly serviceable, uses two very well-known names in the world of pop music these days, and will do fine.

Honestly, the new music in the film remains more intriguing. Alan Menken returned to pen multiple new songs, including one for the Beast himself as well as “Our Song Lives On”, which will have some reprises throughout the movie.

The cast includes Ewan McGregor as Lumiere, (Sir) Ian McKellen as Cogsworth, Dan Stevens as the Beast and the Prince, Emma Thompson as Mrs. Potts, and Audra McDonald as Mme. Garderobe.
