Here are 25 of the Best Super Bowl Half Time Performances Ever
23. Motown Tribute
When researching when this performance happened, I assumed that the Motown Tribute half time performance probably occurred when the Super Bowl was being housed by the Detroit Lions. Would make sense after all, but no. This came about when the Super Bowl was in San Diego, California.
So why they decided to do a Motown tribute is anyone’s guess but it ended up being a pretty great show. I mean, when your line up is like this one, there can’t really be anything wrong with the performance. Even if they all just stood on stage and didn’t sing, it still would be an amazing show.
With The Temptation, Smokey Robinson, Martha Reeves and the Vandellas, Queen Latifa, and Boys II Men, the Motown tribute was actually a pretty amazing show to see. And most of our parents were loving the music from their childhoods.
Everything about this was perfect, except for the fact that it just didn’t make sense for where the Super Bowl was located. When it being in San Diego, it would make more sense to have some kind of California rock band take the lead but instead we got this amazing tribute to the music of Motown and you know what? At least it exists.
