24. New Kids on the Block

Again, Disney had quite the influence for a while. So much so that even when New Kids on the Block were performing, Disney had their hand in it. For those not born anywhere near the 20th century, New Kids on the Block was a boy band composed of Joey McIntyre, Donnie Wahlberg, Danny Wood, Jonathan Knight, Jordan Knight, and, for a time, Mark Wahlberg.

Crazy line-up right? Well, of course girls loved New Kids on the Block. They still love them to this day. Just watch Fuller House and see the Kimmy, DJ, and Stephanie still freaking out about them in the second season.

So it is no surprise that they were asked to do the half time at the Super Bowl. I mean, other than the Backstreet Boys and 98 Degrees, it seems like every boy band had their time on that primetime stage. But at least N’sync’s performance didn’t have Mickey Mouse leading a marching band to the 50 yard line to start it off.

But it was 1991 and everyone was innocent and thought that Y2K was going to kill us all in 9 years. So the half time performances weren’t as risqué and crazy like they are now.
