3. Tom Petty and the Heartbreakers

You’d think that after all these years, Tom Petty and the Heartbreakers wouldn’t be one of the greatest performances yet here they are at number two. Maybe it is because of their music or Tom Petty’s power to lead the band but this performance just reminds us why we love them.

Their music has always been the anthem of the carefree youth. When you’re young, you run around listening to “American Girl” or “Into the Great Wide Open” and just feel the music that Tom Petty wanted us all to experience.

Tom Petty and the Heartbreakers are technically along the same lines as the Who and the Rolling Stones but it is different. They are a different kind of sound but it all just makes us really love listening to their music.

The performance starts with “American Girl” and goes into all their hits like “Won’t Back Down” and the best of all “Free Fallin’”. Really, was there any question over whether or not Tom Petty and the Heartbreakers would sing that?

It is the best and hearing an entire audience sing along with him is something special and completely different from anything else! Basically this performance was just great.
