1. Pizza Party Buns

This recipe is King Arthur Flour’s January Bakealong recipe which includes a handy step by step guide. This is what you make when you’re looking to step beyond the simple delivery pizza or even frozen pizza rolls from the grocery store. They are soft and chewy rolls with just the right amount of mozzarella and pepperoni punctuated with a hit of tomato sauce.

While you can chop or shred (I’m not really sure how one shreds meat, oh that sounds terrible and I apologize for even typing that) pepperoni for these, there’s a slightly easier solution. Hormel makes Pepperoni Minis! They’re tiny circles of pepperoni and come in a 5 oz bag that are small enough to use in these rolls. That gives you leeway to snack on one ounce while you are waiting for the dough to rise or while assembling your rolls. I found mine in the grocery store near the deli and meat counter area in the unmistakable red bag. The bag is resealable, but I’m not sure why you’d have any to save for later…

These rolls are sizeable, it’s possible that you could make them smaller by making your log longer, but why ruin the perfect bread to filling ratio? They’re about the equivalent of a slice of pizza, so it should work out fine.

In other exciting news, you can actually make these ahead of time! Keep them in the refrigerator to warm in the oven for your party. That way when you smell the wonderful pizza and bread smells coming from the oven and gobble them all up, you still have time to make another batch for the actual party.
