Could Square Enix and Marvel’s Collaboration Include a Guardians of the Galaxy Game?
New reports have surfaced that seem to indicate that Marvel and Square Enix’s partnership may include a Guardians of the Galaxy game.
Late last week, Marvel announced a new push to carve out a spot in the world of video games. That came in the form of a Square Enix partnership, with The Avengers getting the first game in the series. However, that very same announcement promised no more news until 2018.
Well, more accurately, official news might not show up until 2018. A report from Kotaku, also citing Eurogamer, seems to have potentially confirmed that the Guardians of the Galaxy will have a game of their own. It all has to do with Eidos Montréal.
Reportedly — and take this with the usual pinch of salt when it comes to sources unnamed — Eidos currently has two projects, the second of which is the Guardians game. That means that Deus Ex: Mankind Divided likely won’t get a sequel, because Eidos is also on Shadow of the Tomb Raider.
Here’s a question: why would the Guardians get a game next? Assuming that that game wouldn’t arrive until 2019 at the earliest, based on the 2018 information delay, Guardians of the Galaxy Vol. 2 would be two years old at that point. Of course, they’re showing up in Avengers: Infinity War, so it’s not like they’ll have suddenly disappeared from the public consciousness. Additionally, it seems somewhat unfair to give them two games in a relatively short span. Telltale will have a game coming out this year.
Here’s a suggestion: why not make a game with Captain Marvel? If you’re going to put Eidos on the case, let them borrow experience from Shadow of the Tomb Raider to write a game about another strong woman. Besides, it’d be closer to topical, since Captain Marvel should drop in 2019, according to The Hollywood Reporter.

All I’m saying is that playing as Carol Danvers may be fun. Keep an eye on this one.
