Diego Luna is Slotted to Star in the New Scarface Reboot

Scarface is making a comeback and there is no better choice for a star than Diego Luna. Or at least that’s what they’re pitching us.

Scarface has had many reboots in the past. From the Italian immigrant in Chicago in the 1932 version of the film to the famous portrayal of the Cuban immigrant in Miami by Al Pacino, it has quite the story to tell.

So now, with the face of our nation changing and people around it fighting, what better time to reboot the immigrant story than now. This time though, we’ll follow a Mexican immigrant in Los Angeles.

This news comes out right after the news of Antoine Fuqua’s departure from the film. He was set to direct the film but work on another film had to force him away from it. The script is written by Terence Winter for the reboot. Rumors are going around that Fuqua was taken away to direct the sequel to The Equalizer but no official news has come out about that yet.

If this news is real, it is truly a match made in heaven. Diego is famous for his work in Rogue One: A Star Wars Story now and is in high demand, especially with his fans. And it will be nice to have someone of Mexican decent playing the role (rather than Italian actor Al Pacino playing a Cuban man).

So while we’re still waiting on some more news, we can just hope that this is true and we’ll get to see Diego playing this cut throat man in our future.
