Here are 13 Actors We Think Can Play the Next Doctor on Doctor Who

3. Dev Patel

Want to get young girls and boys back to watching Doctor Who? Maybe cast someone hot as the Doctor. In the past, we’ve seen that an attractive actor does, in fact, help the show. So, keep that trend going and give the role to Dev Patel. Famous for his work on Skins and in Slumdog Millionaire, Dev is one of the most highly regarded young actors around.

I mean, he is nominated for an Oscar this year for his work in Lion so, he must be doing something right. And he is a man of color so it’ll deviated from the typical “white man plays Doctor” news articles that would roll out.

We live in a time of change and I truly think that it is time the Doctor isn’t played by a white man that looks like another white man who played him before. That’s not to say there aren’t any white guys on this list, there are, they’re just not as highly praised as Dev is. Having Dev Patel play the Doctor would mean having a man nominated for an Oscar take on the role. (He should have been nominated for two but that’s a whole different story.)
