Writing Women: 10 Authors With Must-Follow Twitter Accounts
Alyssa Wong
Alyssa Wong is an up-and-coming author of speculative science fiction. Her award-winning short stories include Your Bones Will Not Be Unknown, Natural Skin, Rabbit Heart, You’ll Surely Drown Here If You Stay, A Fist Of Permutations In Lightning &, Wildflowers, Hungry Daughters Of Starving Mothers, Santos De Sampaguitas, Strange Horizons (Part 1 & Part 2), Scarecrow, and The Fisher Queen.
Alyssa’s tweets are quality, as you can see from the one at the top of this page.
Her Twitter feed is perfect if you love women’s rights, awesome fantasy and science fiction, and social justice warriors. She spent much of the last few years dealing with the sad, sad, sad puppy brigade. I was hoping they’d have gone away by now, but 2017 is determined to be a Very Bad Year. I guess at least we have reached a point where we can all come together to agree that most of us are on the same side, and the puppies are a few lonely souls who spend a lot of time typing. Although now the saddest puppy is sitting in the White House.
So, like most of us nowadays, she is very involved in politics. Alyssa lives in Republican-held North Carolina and is doing her best to turn the tide.
While she isn’t fighting the power and writing fiction, Alyssa Wong often drops gems of wisdom, like “Okay, but does anyone leave free food around a university campus without expecting hungry students to poach it,” and “2017 resolution: talk more, smile less.”
I don’t think we need to worry about smiling less. If that means more people telling us to smile, well, we will just have to punch them like a buncha Nazis.
