N.K. Jemisin

N.K. Jemisin is having a very good year as an author (aside from the state of the world in general). She got the 2016 Hugo Award for Best Novel for The Fifth Season and has been feeling the love and acclaim.

Awards aren’t exactly new to her. In 2011, Jemisin received the both Locus Award for Best First Novel and the Sense of Gender Award for The Hundred Thousand Kingdoms. She’s also been nominated for a Nebula Award and a World Fantasy Award, was short-listed for the James Tiptree Jr. Award.

Her tweets are full of pop culture fun. I learned about Twinkie ice cream from her yesterday. She also talks about playing video games, and her love of the Star Wars movies.

But it isn’t all fun and games. N.K. Jemisin has a hard eye on the Trump administration, and is an expert at clapping back at the racists who come up in her mentions. She tweets about accepting refugees and immigrants, and giving a side eye to those who are getting it all wrong:

N.K. Jemisin is a very good follow. I learn something interesting from her every day.
