The live Q&A for A Celebration of Harry Potter was fun this year with wonderful questions from fans and the actors just having a good time.
Well first of all, Chair Guy was a thing that happened. The man who brought out the chairs for the celebrities and the moderator clearly made an impact on fans and they made him a trending topic.
The panel was comprised of Warwick Davis, Matthew Lewis, Jason Isaacs, and Tom Felton.
Don’t Hug Voldemort
The first question out of the gate was about Tom Felton’s hug with Ralph Fiennes in Harry Potter and the Deathly Hallows Part 2. “Don’t hug Voldemort,” Felton said with a laugh after explaining the differences the audiences views on the hug between Voldemort and Malfoy.
Favorite Sets Moments
The fans then asked about the actors favorite scenes in the movies. For Jason, it was his abuse of Dobby (which was funny since he had said he wasn’t like Lucius that much earlier in a Q&A but he seemed to have a little too much fun). For Matthew, it was destroying the bridge in Harry Potter and the Deathly Hallows Part 2.
Warwick Davis loved his charms class scene because it was his first scene. It also seems like Warwick has so much fun at these events and it makes it so much fun to be a fan and see someone who loves it so much.
Tom, of course, picked his time during Harry Potter and the Half-Blood Prince.
J.K Rowling and her Spoilers
Flitwick was a boyfriend of Dumbledore’s and Malfoy is Hermione’s real father. No but really the cast just talked about how Rowling didn’t really give them too much but that they also didn’t want to be spoiled either.
They were fans of the series anyway so who would want things spoiled for them?
Evil Roles
“We’re bloody good at them.” Jason Isaacs is speaking the truth about the horrors of our world time and time again. He related the Malfoy’s to those who follow twisted and dark leaders and he didn’t want to bring up politics but he definitely alluded to the current political climate in the United States with his answer.
Pranks
Rupert threw a dart into Matt Lewis’s foot. No really, he did. It wasn’t a prank, more like a joke gone wrong. But the pranks that happened were ones that we’ve been hearing about for years. The ones of Daniel changing phones and the fart machine and whatever else happened between them all.
The dark thing was new though.
Matthew and Tom’s Friendship
It was the sweetest moment of the question and answer session. A man came down to ask if Tom and Matthew were really friends outside of their roles and the two made a joke about it all and said no but eventually explained that they were close.
And then, at the end, the man who asked the question yelled “Go Gryffindor, Matthew!” and Tom Felton laughed and shook his head.
Tom Felton Single?
Yep. He is, if you were wondering, because he said “Abso-fudging-lutely”. But he isn’t cheap. Many fans were asking about his relationship status but honestly, can you blame them? He’s beautiful! But lucky for the ladies, he is single and he talked about his love of Umbridge and the Beauxbatons.
Bringing Humanity to Terrible Characters
Tom and Jason talked about how these terrible characters needed to still believe they were right in the best way. For Tom, he said that he felt bad for Draco because it wasn’t really his fault and you could see the humanity win out in Draco by the end of the series. “Malfoy is the kid who didn’t have a choice. Draco is the hero of the series,” Jason and Tom said and it is so true.
Jason basically just traced his hatred of muggles and mudbloods back through his linage and connected his character, once again, to someone who supports a terrible leader.
Favorite Costumes on Set
Tom loved Umbridge and Neville’s cardigan, Matt loved all the black stuff, especially the black tailed suit that Draco wore, and Warwick loved Snape’s costume. It was just a sweet little question that got them all talking about their favorites from the series as a whole.
Favorite Food from the Theme Park
Three Broomsticks and Butterbeer for Warwick, Chocolate Frogs for Tom, Every Flavor Beans for Jason, and and then there was Matthew. He just loved the ice cream. Again, it was just a sweet moment that the fans in the audience could relate to since they were all in the park for the celebration.
The Great Hall
The coolest part was learning that most the reactions were genuine because Christopher Columbus didn’t tell the kids what was happening. Especially for the Great Hall scene. The kids had no idea what the Great Hall looked like until they all walked in.
