The Beauty and the Beast Character Posters Are Something Strange

The Beauty and the Beast live action film is one of the most highly anticipated films of 2017 but these character posters are interesting to say the least.

As someone who loves Beauty and the Beast most of all, even I can admit that the character posters Disney released are pretty weird. Why? Because they decided to use the actors in period garb rather than following the story of Belle and the Beast and making them all household objects.

To be fair, it wouldn’t be as fun having a picture of a candlestick with Ewan McGregor’s name across the poster but this is a little insane. The posters are each actor as their human selves posting in super weird ways. The only two that aren’t weird are the Beast as the Beast and Belle’s.

Maybe that’s because they didn’t try to change them? Whatever is going on in these posters, we know that the movie features the actors as they are meant to be. So why didn’t Disney market it with Stanley Tucci as he really appears for most of the film? Probably because adults wouldn’t know it was Stanley Tucci.

The problem with a movie like this is that adults won’t look into it. People who love Beauty and the Beast will see it no matter what but an older mother isn’t going to go see a Disney movie. But if she sees that Sir Ian McKellan or Kevin Kline is in it, she might sing a different tune.
