Get DC Comics Inspired Dresses With Hot Topic’s Gotham Knights Collection
By Jenn Reid
The new Hot Topic Gotham Knights collection channels DC Comics with Batman, Catwoman and Joker inspired suits and dresses.
Calling all mall goths! Hot Topic, that store everyone loved when they were 15, has launched a new formal wear collection based on the DC universe. The Gotham Knights collection features prom-ready gear inspired by DC Comics heroes and villains, particularly those in the Batman universe. (We tip our hats to Fashionably Geek as well for the find.)
For the ladies, there are formal dresses styled after Wonder Woman, Harley Quinn, Catwoman, Poison Ivy and Batman. The Batman dress features a bustier top with a crinoline bat print skirt. The Women Woman dress is a vibrant red high-low dress. Her signature blue star print just peeks out from the inside of the skirt. Meanwhile, Catwoman’s dress uses the stitch pattern from Michelle Pfeiffer’s Catwoman in Batman Returns as a reference. Harley’s red dress has her classic black diamond print. Finally, the Poison Ivy dress is green, naturally, with a mesh skirt featuring a vine print. The dresses also ring in at around $100 each, with plus sizes available online only.
The men have noticeably fewer options: Batman or the Joker. If you want to channel your inner Bruce Wayne at an upcoming formal event, there is a black bat print tie, vest and formal blazer with the bat symbol emblazoned on the back. Go for just the tie for a subtle nod to the Dark Knight, or grab all three and let the world know you’re that guy. For a Joker-esque style, there are also three pieces: a purple tie with an allover “HA HA HA” print, a button-up shirt with an old-school Joker print, and a tuxedo jacket with a black diamond print — perfect if you want to match with Harley’s dress!

The men’s ties will cost you $13, with the coats coming in around $90. That means for about $200 bucks, you and your Batman loving buddy can cosplay Batman and Catwoman, or Joker and Harley at an upcoming wedding. If that’s the kind of thing you’re into.
