Smitten Kitchen Comes To The Big Screen On Food Network

If you’re a food blog follower, then you know about Smitten Kitchen. It’s the go-to website for original, creative, in-season dishes and now, it’s coming to Food Network as its own vlog!

I can remember when I first started falling in love with cooking, and I’d be lying if I said Smitten Kitchen had nothing to do with it. If you haven’t heard of it, Smitten Kitchen is a food blog (that pretty much went viral) started by Deb Perelman. You can read all about her here.

"“What you’ll see here is a lot of comfort foods stepped up a bit, things like bread and birthday cakes made entirely from scratch and tutorials on everything from how to poach an egg to how to make tart doughs that don’t shrink up on you, but also a favorite side dish (zucchini and almonds) that takes less than five minutes to make.“"

She uses food to connect with her readers and in the simplest of ways, shares part of her soul with us. She’s known to take basic recipes and like she said, step it up a bit. It’s simple. It’s original. It’s creative. But most importantly, it’s no fuss. “What I’m wary of is: Excessively fussy foods and/or pretentious ingredients. I think food should be accessible, and am certain that you don’t need any of these things to cook fantastically.”

Since 2009, Smitten Kitchen has been a leading website for fun recipes so it’s no surprise that Food Network is finally realizing that. They’ve just launched a vlog-type series and I’m already invested in it. First up, Spaghetti Carbonara Pie. How could you go wrong with that? She describes it as, “This one uses crispy pancetta, is heavier on the yolks, just like real carbonara, and then broccoli rabe too, not at all like the real stuff. It’s crunchy and rich and salty and cheesy and because it has greens in it, basically a salad.” If you weren’t listening before, you definitely are now.

Check out her first “episode” here:

This is only the first of many, she describes on her website. She also wants your opinion though. What recipes do you want to see? What techniques do you want her to cover? Let her know in the comments to this post!
