The actress had been struggling with diabetes for a long while on top of brain surgery in 2011. Her family stated that she had been dealing with a number of health concerns and it had just continued to escalate.

As of now, we don’t know exactly what is her cause of death. But we do know that Mary will definitely be missed. From roles in The Dick Van Dyke Show to her own show The Mary Tyler Moore Show, she proved that a woman really could have it all.

Her show changed the world for women, not just with the content of the program, but with the behind the scenes action on it. The Mary Tyler Moore Show was one of the first shows to prove that women could be writers on a television sitcom.

She helped pave the way for women in the entertainment world and even proved that you could have a family and still follow your dreams. She even made the role of Laura Petrie in The Dick Van Dyke Show more than just a regular old housewife.
