5. She can fight

Being Ned Stark’s daughter, Arya has always had a propensity towards combat. She grew up watching her older brothers and father learn how to properly wield the sword, and although she had a positive female role model in her life, she always let the Stark blood win out.

Syrio Forel may have very well been the best investment Ned Stark ever made. Allowing the water dancer from Braavos to teach his daughter the delicate act of fencing may have actually saved her life. Arya can protect herself with or without the sword, but she’s much deadlier with it, which is a strong skill one needs to hone if there’s even a shot of surviving in Westeros.

Most of the time, Arya doesn’t need to pull out her sword to win a spar. She can handle herself when she speaks and is rarely rattled by someone trying to talk down to her. The only thing we have to concern ourselves with is an ongoing battle of when she needs to fight and when she wants to fight. Remember when she killed the Frey soldier in Season 3’s “Mhysa?” Sometimes her emotions can sweep her up, and that’s something she has to let go of if she wants to be a great warrior.
