17. She listens to advice

Sometimes it’s hard to listen to people, especially if they think they know what’s best for you. What Arya is good at is being able to see who actually has advice for her and who is just testing her limits. This scene from Season 3’s “The Climb” shows that Arya is perfectly willing to learn from someone who clearly has more experience than her. Anguy has proven his archery skills, so listening to everything he has to teach is obviously Arya’s best course of action.

It’s easy to let your mind wander when someone is talking to you about a subject you don’t particularly like. Just remember how sluggish a less-than-favorable class could feel on certain days. But as we’ve mentioned before, Arya is no ordinary student. She wants to learn it all, especially the art of combat. And in a land like Westeros, where fighting is a necessary skill, there’s plenty of people who are willing to teach her, since she’s so eager to learn.

Though it hasn’t always been easy for her, most of the people who Arya comes across wish her no harm. They’re either direct with their life lessons to her, or more abstract, but in the end she always comes away with some kind of lesson.
