25 reasons Arya should win the Iron Throne
16. She doles out revenge on those who deserve it
Ser Meryn Trent won’t be missed. Walder Frey got what was coming to him. And a sword through Polliver’s neck was almost a bit too satisfying. All of these people were on Arya’s kill list, so we knew their time was up in one way or another. But these guys hurt our Stark girl to the point where they deserved everything they got. This doesn’t mean Arya kills so easily.
Like we said, Arya keeps to a very specific life code. She follows her own set of rules which allow her to pass through the often-intimidating Known World. But in this scene from Season 4’s “The Children,” she almost breaks her own rules by not killing The Hound, who has been on her kill list for some time. At this point in their story, it didn’t seem right to kill him. It was almost as if Arya gave him a second chance to find her again so they could properly hash out their differences. Could this possibly end in bloodshed in season 7? Only time will tell at this point.
Arya’s propensity towards bloodlust is no secret anymore. We’re only slightly concerned that she’s becoming more sadistic the more she learns about fighting, combat, and the people around the world. If she keeps to her code, then maybe she can take out the dredges of Westeros instead of shaking things up to where serious problems could occur. After all, White Walkers are that much harder to kill.
