Cormoran Strike will have lots of easter eggs in their cast as extras who were cast in the Potterverse movies are showing up in Rowling’s new TV show.
Though the BBC’s The Cormoran Strike Mysteries series is a fully separate production from Rowling’s Harry Potter and Fantastic Beasts movie-verses, down to the author credit, it is perhaps unsurprising that a few cross overs would slip in.
Even though the “Robert Galbraith” penned series will have a completely different feel from the wizarding world it looks like a few wizards and witches will be populating Rowling’s more gritty (and far more bloody) real world.
According to IMDB, the dead body in question that starts the series “slain supermodel Lula Landry” will be played by Elarica Johnson, who was a wizarding waitress in Harry Potter and the Half Blood Prince.
Her boyfriend (well on and off boyfriend) Evan Duffield will be played by a Slytherin extra, Bronson Webb.
Looks pretty Slytherin to me.
Other actors who have been cast recently: Killian Scott has been cast as D.I. Eric Wardle, and will play his for all three novels. Kerr Logan plays Matthew Cunliffe, Robin’s rather unfortunate fiance. And Leo Bill will play John Bristow, who is Luna’s brother and the man who wants her killer brought to justice. Other cast members include, but are not limited to, Tezlym Senior-Sakutu as Rochelle Onifade (Lula’s friend); Martin Shaw as Tony Landry (Lula’s uncle); and Siân Phillips as Lady Yvette Bristow, Lula and John’s mother.
Meanwhile “Galbraith” has been attending filming on set this month.
(I have to admit, I do love that Rowling is keeping up the pretense of the books being written by someone else.)
Well…at least for a couple of tweets.
