6. Violet Baudelaire

Violet Baudelaire is one of the greatest female characters that exist in literature. She is intelligent, she’s an inventor, and she doesn’t let people stop her just because she’s a girl. In the books, many of the people the Baudelaire children end up with want Violet to act like a lady. And she does, in her own way.

She isn’t a girly girl who is going to be prim and proper. She wears dresses and takes care of her siblings but she also pulls her hair up and invents. She saves everyone time and time again with her intelligence and no one, especially not Klaus, doubts her.

It is a great thing to see, especially as a young girl reading these books, but also just as a reader. Watching this brother and sister work together to try and live the best lives they can really was inspiring. Most times, we see siblings who fight and hate each other but Violet truly loves her siblings and wants to protect them.

It’s also awesome that a girl in a pink dress can make a pully system to save her little sister. She doesn’t have to be masculine to be amazing and it is wonderful.
