4. The Twist

Throughout the first four books and the entire first season, we believe that the Baudelaire’s parents are still alive. They escaped and ran away and their trying to get back to their family. We get pictures to confirm their parents were part of a secret order and we assume they are the parents we’ve been seeing over and over again.

For those of us who read the books, we knew what was coming. Unless you’re like me and haven’t read them since you were a child. If that’s the case, you may have forgotten the most unfortunate event of all: the Baudelaire’s parents were never coming back.

For four books we thought that the parents were on their way home to Klaus, Violet, and Sunny. We thought they were fighting to get back to the Baudelaire’s. But they were fighting to get back to their own kids because they were not, in fact, the parents of Klaus, Violet, and Sunny.

It is just such a sad twist that the little bit of hope that we did have for the Baudelaire children is gone. Their parents are really dead and there is nothing they can really do about it until Violet is 18.
