How I Met Your Mother – “The Limo”

After nine seasons of How I Met Your Mother, and one of the most disappointing series finale ever, audiences grew weary with the show. But before audiences got tired of the gang’s predictable antics, recycled romantic relationships, and storylines that sometimes bordered on outright sexist, it was a interesting show, with pretty good writing. Fortunately, this episode came before the show really started to outstay its welcome.

In the eleventh episode of the first season Ted rents a limo for New Year’s Eve to help avoid the let down of the holiday. The gang plans to hit up a handful of parties, staying at the best one, but of course, circumstances throw them off schedule and cause them to get separated. They don’t make it to all their parties, but they all wind up together in the end.

The episode started pretty strong, but parallel to the New Year’s Eve they are having, it fizzled out at the end. The strong suit of “The Limo” is the crackling chemistry between Robin and Ted. Despite all the tedious will they/won’t they, we do get to see a kiss between the two at the very end.
