Donald Trump Quoted Bane from The Dark Knight Rises in his Speech

As if the inauguration couldn’t get any worse, some lovely person figured out that Donald Trump quoted Batman villain Bane in his speech.

Did you ever think you would be saying Donald Trump was our 45th president? Probably not. And now you can add another “I didn’t think this would happen” do your list. That addition is a quote from Bane from The Dark Knight Rises in an inauguration speech.

As Donald was named our newest President, many watched in fear. It is a true statement. Most who turned in didn’t want him as our leader. But that is neither here nor there. Why? Because we’re focusing on the fact that our president unknowingly quoted a Batman villain in his speech.

Honestly, could it have been any better? The quote, for those who are wondering, is when Bane addresses the people of Gotham. “And give it back to you, the people,” Trump said today and guess who also said that exact phrase? Bane. When he was planning on using a nuclear bomb to blow up Gotham and theoretically killed Batman.

So, I guess, in this scenario Batman is Democracy and Donald Trump is Bane. How fitting. Honestly, if he would have quoted the Riddler or the Penguin or any other villain, it wouldn’t be as perfect as Trump accidentally quoting Bane’s speech right before he plans to blow up all of Gotham city. Truly, comedy at its finest.

The inauguration seemed to go on today without a hitch and while that is comforting to some, many fear what lies ahead for us. Especially since the first thing Trump did was bash all the presidents before him. Well, here’s to four years, I guess.
