3. Waverly Earp – Wynonna Earp

Ohhhh Waverly Earp. I’ve said this before and I’ll say it again — Waverly Earp was SO important on television last year. After a laundry list of queer character deaths, Waverly Earp turned out to be our knight in shining armor. She even has the scar to prove it, but in this world, chicks dig scars.

When we first met her at the beginning of Wynonna Earp, a feminist western on Syfy that is truly changing the game of television, she was dating Champ, and Champ didn’t deserve this precious gazelle one bit. After Waverly was finally introduced to Officer Nicole Haught, things quite literally began heating up between the two and Waverly began to question everything she once thought she knew. Before meeting Nicole, Waverly was happy with Champ and never wondered about her sexuality. But sometimes, that’s all you need: that person who will make you question, who will force you to wonder what you’re missing out on.

The journey between Waverly and Nicole is now a fan favorite on the show and although we’re still unsure about that tentacle goo at the end of season 1, we’re excited to see where it leads in season 2.
