6. Kurt Hummel – Glee

Speaking of difficult stories about coming out to your parents, let’s talk Kurt Hummel from Glee, another person whose journey was hard but necessary. And also another show that young people are watching. He feared coming out to his dad for years and lived with a constant weight on his shoulders. There’s one clip that I could watch over and over again of Kurt finally coming out to his father and gets me a little teary-eyed every time.

First of all, the acting in just this one scene is unreal. It captures the emotions of each character so vividly, you can feel the nerves of Kurt as if you were the one coming out to his father. You feel what he’s going through, and to anyone who has ever had to come out to someone who might not be okay with it, you’ve been there. But plot twist, his father is actually cool with it, making this one of my favorite coming out scenes. And similarly to Pretty Little Liars, it was done on a show with so many viewers who were young adults and possibly going through the same experience. Can I petition for a Glee reboot now or has that ship sailed?
