Recycle

Just because some people are still living in denial about whether climate change is real doesn’t mean you have to. You can do something today to make your little corner of the world a little cleaner and more environmentally friendly. Just make an effort to be more consistent about recycling. It’s easy, and will make a positive impact on the world around you. The average American generates 4.4 pounds of trash per day, after all.

Make sure you separate out your trash at home. Keep a second bin for recyclable items like wine bottles, soda cans and cardboard boxes. Live in an apartment building? See if there’s a designated area for recycling bins near wherever your trash picks up. Or your building may have its own specific recycling policy. Live in a house? Find out if there’s a residential recycling service provided by your county or city.  If not, locate a local recycling drop-off center near you.

And, let’s be real, even if you’re skeptical of the whole climate change thing – though you shouldn’t be – being good stewards of the world around us seems like it’s probably a good idea. It helps make sure we all have a cleaner, better place to live now, and helps preserve the world for future generations. (Plus, it’s easier than ever to do these days. We’ve all really got no excuse.)
