2. FLOTUS on Social Progress

In the eight years Michelle Obama has been in the White House, she has worked tirelessly on bringing up social progress issues. Since starting the Joining Forces initiative, it has enhanced veteran services like mental health screenings and combat homelessness.

She has partnered with music superstar Bono to address the concerns about poverty and why women are the most affected by the issue. FLOTUS has also worked with the President to get common sense gun reforms enacted.

FLOTUS has also spoken at length on immigration and the need for equality for LGBT Americans. Just recently Michelle Obama spoke to graduates of City College in New York about immigration and who we are as a country. Here’s a video of what she had to say.

Mrs. Obama also has a long history of being an advocate for LGBT rights. She took this fight head on during President Obama’s second election race in 2012. Being the social media savvy FLOTUS that she is, she took to YouTube to talk about how she felt about LGBT rights.

"“For Barack and me it really comes down to the values of fairness and equality that we want to pass down to our girls. I mean, these are basic values that kids learn at a very young age and that we encourage them to apply in all areas of their lives.”"

I believe Michelle Obama has been instrumental in making the Obama administration one of the most progressive we will ever see in our lifetime.
