“I can do this all day.”

We could also put this one in with motivational speeches, because it seems to be Cap’s go-to line, but there’s more to it than just that. You could almost call it his mantra, as he’s uttered it during very defining moments for his character.

It begins in The First Avenger with a fistfight in one of the many alleys Steve knows. He just keeps getting up to fight his attacker, who doesn’t understand why he won’t just stay down. Why is he fighting this stranger? Because the dude wouldn’t shut up during a war bonds ad before the cartoon.

But the time he says it when it really hurts is in Captain America: Civil War when he battles against Tony Stark in an attempt to protect Bucky. It’s tough to watch these two beating each other up (though great entertainment because you can’t look away). “I can do this all day,” Cap says with a bloody face just after Tony lands a pretty hard punch to the face.

Each utterance has a different connotation to it. But what really stands out is the fact that he’s still the same person. He’s still the scrawny little kid from Brooklyn and no amount of super soldier serum or superhero friends will ever change that.
