His Words of Wisdom

Steve Rogers has certainly had a tough life. He was orphaned by his teenage years, left only with his friend Bucky by his side. And of course Bucky gets taken into the army immediately while Steve struggles to make it past the physical. That’s only what we see on the big screen.

So it should come as no surprise when he spouts out sage advice and one-liners that could easily be on inspirational posters in a tourist trap somewhere.

One of his most memorable ones comes from Captain America: The First Avenger. When Peggy Carter asks if he had something against running away from a fight, he replies, “You start running, they’ll never let you stop.” He has a point. Sometimes the moment you show weakness is the time when they really go after you.

But of course it doesn’t end there. In The Avengers, he has a fantastic one-liner against Loki. As he crash lands to save an old man from certain death, Cap straightens up and says, “The last time I was in Germany and saw a man standing above everybody else, we ended up disagreeing.”

“Disagreeing” puts it lightly. The Cap has an ability to make sure his opinion is known in the politest way possible.
