Picking His Shield, Immediately Getting Shot At
Right after the fondue debacle, Steve Rogers is shown around Howard’s makeshift Research and Development area at the SSR base for all the newfound gadgets he’ll get in the field.
Howard takes him almost directly to the various kinds of shields he has available, even if it is a weird choice. He starts explaining the different choices, but Cap’s eye gets caught on something tucked away on the bottom shelf. Even though it’s a prototype, he wants to use it.
That’s when Agent Carter walks into the room and Captain America asks for her opinion on his new shield. With zero hesitation, she grabs a gun from a nearby table and shoots it directly at his shield.
“Yes, I think it works,” she tells him before striding away. Anyone else in that situation would have flipped out at her—or at the very least, screamed/yelled in response. But Cap keeps his cool and stares after her with Stark at his side. He goes about the rest of his business in a bit of an awed state, not even giving himself time to recover from what just happened.
Apparently Captain America can keep his cool in any situation. Either that or getting shot at from close range doesn’t really bother him.
