Pottermore Highlights the Wizarding World’s Most Interesting Buildings

Everything in the wizarding world seems to have its own magical pulse, and the buildings our heroes venture to are no exception. Pottermore did a roundup of some of the most interesting ones in the bunch.

One thing we really like about the world J.K. Rowling has built for the rest of us is how everything in it has its own unique history. The group over at wizarding mecca Pottermore put together a small roundup of some of the most interesting buildings we’ve seen, and we’d like to share a couple with you.

Hogwarts

Where else but Hogwarts School of Witchcraft and Wizardry can you find dozens of secret passageways, a mischievous poltergeist, and staircases that like to change? The school that became Harry Potter’s home is located “somewhere in Scotland,” only accessible by magic train and a short boat trip.

J.K. Rowling drew her inspiration for the castle-like building based off a centuries-old school in Edinburgh. Not only is the interior grand and elegant, the beautiful medieval architecture is surrounded by the massive Great Lake, the terrifying Forbidden Forest, and the school’s giant Quidditch Pitch. This school has basically everything a student could ever want or need, making it the perfect nesting place to learn and grow all your magical skills. You can learn many more of Hogwarts’ secrets over at Pottermore as well.

Gringotts

The exclusive wizarding bank is probably the safest place to be in the wizarding world, except maybe Hogwarts. Wizards can rest easy knowing their money is safe, thanks to an extensive underground vault and a failsafe dragon security guard.

The bank is tidy, bright, and chock full of goblin workers. They’re the ones who keep the security so tight and impenetrable. The vaults are virtually inaccessible without the touch of a golbin. We know there’s things about these funny little creatures that are hitherto unknown, but as long as they continue keeping the money where it needs to be, we won’t be delving to deep into their lives.

The Burrow

It’s where the Weasley family comes home to roost. Ron first introduces it to Harry as “not much,” although Harry is seeing an actual home for the first time in his life. This charming, multi-story home sits somewhere in Devon, near the southwestern tip of England. Though it may look rundown from the outside, this home is just brimming with magic and love.

The Burrow is our first look at what a wizarding family’s farm looks like. Even though the nearby orchard is always infested with gnomes, the Weasleys put enough care and time into their home to make it a welcoming place to stay.

Pottermore has even more tidbits for you about these wonderful buildings and homes, plus a few we didn’t mention here. It’s just a shame us Muggles and No-maj’s can’t see them, even if we wanted to.
