After a press conference that befuddled the world and set a new precedent for all future events, J.K. Rowling had a few choice words about Donald Trump’s tweets.
January 11th’s press conference was the first one President-Elect Donald Trump gave in nearly six months. In it, he highlighted plans for a revamp to the drug industry, Obamacare’s future, and called CNN “fake news.” It was a wild ride from start to finish, and in perfect Trump fashion, he just had to tweet about it later. And who else but J.K. Rowling has the perfect witticism to take down Lord Trumpermort a peg or two.
Trump is no stranger to Twitter drama, and this just seemed like another mini-temper tantrum to throw online. We’ve all been there, but we’re also not the President-Elect. J.K. seemed to notice that too, because she fired back with this perfectly applicable response.
That’s a good zinger to highlight the childishness of Trump’s tweets. But J.K. always has goodness in her heart. Moments after sending her tweet, she picked out this lovely, polite note from someone who (more than likely) voted for Trump. But instead of something snarky, she had this to say.
Rowling remains a class-act as always, and someone we can look up to for lessons on how to be nicer to one another. She takes things on an individual level, and doesn’t pander to guilt-by-association. This was a nice, refreshing thing to see, especially on a site like Twitter.

No one here is saying you have to like Donald Trump, and you can always express why you don’t like him. But my mother taught me a very important lesson about dealing with someone you can’t stand. Find something you do like, even if it’s on a superficial level. What could be something to like about Trump?
He had a pretty cool cameo in Home Alone 2.
