5. Exercise a little every day

Getting the body in motion is so very, very important, especially since so many jobs are sedentary these days. I should know, I’m a writer. It’s easy to get trapped in the cycle of saying “Oh, I’ll start working out tomorrow,” but there’s no day like the present. But this also means you don’t have to jump into hardcore workouts like the Insanity training or go to CrossFit (whatever that actually is). You should do things that fit the limits of your body, and fitting them in every day is the key to success.

A healthy body just means a healthy mind. We’re not expecting you all to be Instagram workout gurus (since every body is different), but every little bit helps. It’s doing it every day that’s key. The above clip is from the Season 2 finale of Netflix’s BoJack Horseman. We see BoJack struggling to run before giving up and collapsing to the ground. A mysterious stranger (voiced by staunch Scientology critic Jason Beghe) tells him, “It gets easier. But you’ve got to do it every day. That’s the hard part.” That always stuck with me, and I think of it every time I don’t feel like picking up my 5-pound weights to do my little arm exercises. It’s something.

Try taking a walk around the neighborhood, or finding workout classes near you. If that doesn’t work, you can always do some exercises at your desk. And if you’re already going to the gym keep it up. We believe in you.
