21. Rachel Maddow

Let’s kick off this list with one of my personal favorites of not only this year, but of all time. Not that the rest of the women you’re about to read about don’t fall somewhere under that category, but this one stands out a lot, especially surrounding the election.

Rachel Maddow was not one to sit back and watch it all happen in 2016. Being a public figure with her own television show on MSNBC, you’d of course expect her to not remain silent. But the way she used her platform to call out so many last year (mostly Trump) should inspire us all. She’s a constant reminder that you’re opinion should never be silenced, especially politically.

"“I really believe in trying to increase the amount of useful information in the world and in being accurate in the sense that you can take what I say to the bank, even if you disagree with me.”"

She’s unapologetic. She’s genuine. She’s loud. She’s somebody who inspires me on a daily basis to try and be the same.
