Hulu Will Stream Golden Girls and Happiness Really Does Exist

Beginning in February, Hulu will stream Golden Girls and it’s the Valentine’s Day gift we all need in our life. Thank YOU for being a friend, Hulu.
Beginning February 13, Hulu will stream Golden Girls! Basically, this news confirms that this will be the least tragic Valentine’s Day in history. Before now, you had to wait and catch your favorite episodes in reruns and syndication. Now, thanks to our (newly elected) favorite online streaming service, you can watch the absolute best feminist show in television history. And you can do it anytime you want.
Of course, we have to pause here to say, “No thank YOU, Hulu, for being a friend.”

As Vulture points out, the release of Golden Girls for streaming coincides with the fictional, (but still very important) holiday of Galentine’s Day. Parks and Recreation, another super feminist and popular show, coined the phrase — and it’s remained a thing ever since! Of course, we devote Galentine’s Day to celebrating female friendships and the spirit of sisterhood they embody.
So, this seems like the perfect way to celebrate a show that is exclusively about girlfriends and the sacred bond between women. Golden Girls became a hit when it premiered in the late ’80s, and it’s only gained steam as a whole new generation of fans are born.
We can attribute the popularity of Golden Girls to a lot of factors, but if you ask me (and we all know you didn’t), it’s because the feminist themes of unconditional love and support still hold up pretty well.
While only one of the original Golden Girls remains (we love you, Betty White), their legacy is one of the most important contributions to women on TV. Thank the television gods their legacy will get a little help from Hulu beginning in February.
