Motion Picture Categories: Drama
The drama category has some hard hitters this year but it is a pretty straight forward year. There might be some upsets throughout the entire award season but for the Golden Globes, since they are separated by genre, it should be an easy playing field.
Best Motion Picture, Drama
Moonlight is definitely slotted to win this one. The coming of age story of a man in Miami struggling with his home life and the war on drugs, most are saying that this could win best picture overall this year.
Best Performance by an Actress in a Motion Picture, Drama
Natalie Portman destroys everyone in her portrayal of Jackie Kennedy in the movie Jackie. Following the story of Jackie right after the death of John F. Kennedy and how she helped plan the funeral of the late president. Portman does an incredible job and should win.
Best Performance by an Actor in a Motion Picture, Drama
Casey Affleck is getting a lot of flack for his nomination, but it is pretty deserved. In Manchester by the Sea, you follow the story of Lee Chandler while he is trying to cope with the death of his big brother and also the family he once had.
Best Performance by an Actor in a Supporting Role in a Motion Picture
Hell or High Water should have gotten a lot more recognition but Jeff Bridges deserves this nomination and definitely the win for this role. He is incredible as the police sheriff trying to catch the two brothers who continue to rob banks.
Best Performance by an Actress in a Supporting Role in a Motion Picture
Michelle Williams plays Lee’s ex-wife Randy in Manchester by the Sea and gives one of the greatest performances of her career.
Best Screenplay, Motion Picture
Hell or High Water is a great film that had audiences on the edge of their seats. With knock out performances by Chris Pine, Ben Foster, and Jeff Bridges, this movie is a shoo-in to win Best Screenplay.
